100 graduates and counting…we couldn’t be prouder!
November 2024 marked a significant milestone for The Bread & Butter Project, with the graduation of our largest ever cohort of 26 graduates, including our 100th trainee.
Held at the Surry Hills headquarters of our long-time corporate supporter, Canva, the graduation brought together a crowd of 150 of The Bread & Butter Project’s staff, volunteers, donors, partners and family members to celebrate this wonderful occasion.
The ceremony acknowledged each trainee’s accreditation as a fully-fledged baker, following a 6-month traineeship with Australia’s first social enterprise bakery.
Since 2013, The Bread & Butter Project has been training refugees to become bakers, whilst providing English language tutoring and all manner of practical and emotional support along the way. On completion of their training, we have committed to finding work opportunities for every graduate.
Congratulations to all 26 graduates, and thank you to every trainee who has come through our doors and put their trust in our project – providing hope and inspiration for those to follow.
We’re deeply grateful to our many supporters – donors, volunteers and employment partners – who ensure this project’s success.
And we thank our valued customers whose orders continue to fund this hugely life-changing initiative.
