Congratulations to the class of 2025

Jan 12, 2026 | Bakery News

As we wrap up another year, it’s a great opportunity to celebrate the successes and milestones of 2025. This year, The Bread & Butter Project graduated 20 refugee trainees, each with an extraordinary story of resilience and determination. With this group, we proudly marked our 120th graduate from The Bread & Butter Project program.

This year alone, our trainees have completed over 12,000 hours of bakery training, 5,500 hours of study at TAFE, and 460 hours of one-on-one English lessons, supported by our incredible team of volunteer tutors. These numbers tell a story of hard work and unwavering commitment — not just from our trainees, but from the entire Bread & Butter Project community.

We were especially proud to celebrate the most female-led cohort in TBBP’s history, where the majority of the women graduating from our program have escaped Taliban rule in Afghanistan — leaving behind their homes and their communities.

As women’s rights continue to be stripped away in many parts of the world, we are deeply honoured to have played a role in helping these women rebuild their lives — offering not just vocational training, but renewed hope and a second chance.

Every program graduate is now embarking on exciting new work opportunities, equipped with newfound skills and confidence. We are proud that our program has made a meaningful difference, and hopeful that this is just the beginning of brighter futures to come.

This year’s cohort stands as a testament to what can be achieved when we combine compassion, practical training, and meaningful employment. We wish all of our graduates success and fulfilment as they enter this next chapter of their lives, and we hope their future in Australia is filled with opportunity, dignity, and a true sense of belonging.

A sincere thank you to our volunteers, donors, customers, and industry partners without whom we simply couldn’t do the work that we do. Their ongoing belief in our mission — to bake a better future for refugees — is what makes this wonderful program possible.
