Be a Maker of Bakers!

As we wrap up the 2025-26 financial year, The Bread & Butter Project is seeking $85k in donations to support 5 more refugees.

Refugees in Australia face terrible hurdles just trying to work and provide for their loved ones. The Bread & Butter Project offers life-changing traineeships, and we rely on our customers, followers and industry partners to help us make positive change for those in need.

The Bread & Butter Project invests 100% of our profits into training and employment pathways for people seeking refuge in Australia.

By combining paid work, practical skills training, and personal support, our tried-and-true program helps refugee trainees find employment success and rebuild their lives.

Right now, we urgently need to fund places for five people to join our training program in 2026.

If you appreciate what we do, please consider making a tax-deductible donation today to become a maker of bakers.

Every gift helps us deliver education, create jobs, and offer employment opportunities for refugees – all while baking high-quality artisan bread that nourishes our community.

‘The Bread & Butter Project has been a shining example of how business can play a main role in promoting social unity. They are not just offering us jobs. They are providing a pathway to dignity, self-sufficiency, and the opportunity to rebuild our lives’.

– TBBP Graduate, Artur, 54 from Ukraine

We all know that securing a job and stable income is key to a building a safe, successful life. The people participating in our program are facing immediate financial pressure, limited work experience, and unfamiliar workplace environments. Paid training allows them to focus on learning, skill building, and integration whilst earning a secure income.

Our program runs for 13 weeks, based at our professional artisanal bakery in Marrickville. Alongside baking skills, we support trainees with language, workplace expectations, and adjustment to life in Australia. At the completion of their traineeship, we find our graduates paid work opportunities in the food services industry. This process creates a powerful shift in self-belief, independence, and agency.

The sale of our bread and the generosity of our donors doesn’t just fund a program — it fuels a dream.

A huge thank you to our extended Bread & Butter family for believing in people, in potential, and in the power of community. Together, we’re baking a better future.
